Oasis – Once Upon a Time

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] We are always delighted to have the opportunity to work with the lovely creative team at Oasis, we love their style and relish the chance to create such bold statement pieces[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] Continuing the theme of The Extraordinarium, the flagship store on London's Argyll Street was a wondrous sight with two windows filled with magic. One had a giant bust of a unicorn, which was hand carved and painted in house and given an elaborate set of reins, along with the clock and lamp posts, frame and beautiful red velvet drapes. The other had a magical staircase made from giant story books, miniature towers made from pages from the books and a crowned frog on a red silk pillow. Stores across the UK received full sized unicorns, which were originally zebras from a previous Oasis scheme, and were hand painted in house by the Hello Flamingo team. The unicorns had beautifully crystal embellished reins,...

L.K. Bennett – L.K. Bennett X Preen collaboration

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] L.K. Bennett announced their first ever ready-to-wear collaboration, with internationally renowned label, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] The design duo drew inspiration for the timeless capsule collection from the floral watercolours of Scottish artist Charles Rennie Macintosh. Hello Flamingo were so excited to be involved in bringing the collection into the store windows, which was rolled out across the UK. The in-house team created a number of plinths, for mannequins to stand on and for product to be placed, in a beautiful red high-gloss finish. Some with floral and geometric detail taken straight from the designs of the garments. Plinths were also supplied for the press event to launch the collection, where models stood like real life mannequins, showing off the beautiful pieces. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] With the extension of designer shopping outlet Bicester Village, the Ted Baker store relocated to a new unit within the village, and with the classic Ted twist, created a village within the village. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] Hello Flamingo were delighted to part a of the sourcing, styling and prop making for the store which had a bakery, gentleman’s bar, chemist, tailor shop. All items were handpicked at antique and trade fairs, including over 500 vintage glass bottles, science equipment and lovely kitchenalia. The till area had a bespoke, illuminated science laboratory display - with vintage filament bulbs, scenic paint effects and vintage science equipment. Oasis – The Extraordinarium

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Creative Team at Oasis created a pop-up book and curiosity shop for the preview of their AW17 collection back in April, called The Extraordinarium. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] They took inspiration from the pop-up to all stores across the UK for their AW window displays. We were so happy to be asked by the team to help with some elements for the scheme. The Hello Flamingo in house prop-making team set about cutting a number of fibreglass, life sized zebras in half. Using the front end, the team handpainted the zebras leg pastel pink and added a monocle which had text from an old book applied to it. Internal split batons were added to the back of the zebras, enabling the inhouse VM teams to attach them to the wall, to give the impression that the zebras were floating. We also took the head of a flamingo (our personal favourite) and adorned them with rose...

Browns – Jean Michel Basquiat Collaboration

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] We were so happy to be approached by the creative team at luxury fashion boutique Browns to work with them on a pop-up shop in their South Molton Street store for their collaboration with iconic artist the late Jean-Michel Basquiat, in conjunction of the exhibition of his work showing at The Barbican.. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] The team came to us with their design concept and Hello Flamingo set about building it! Two windows were partially blacked out, painted by our very own director Paula, the centre of the windows were left and exposed enlarged prints of the artist work – along with garments from the collaborative collection. Large paper prints filled other windows, with hand sketches and notes and plinths and windows had the highly recognisable ‘crown’ and ‘SAMO’ logos. A giant replica of the Mona Lisa, altered by Basquiat, hung in a window, with bespoke props (skate ramp, plinth, ball) which held product, including a...

Aquascutum – AW17

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Design direction from client: ‘Monochrome with a colour accent; a break from black and white. Colour is a powerful force; that draws our focus to the intrinsic features of the pieces photographed. Images are cropped with purpose to accentuate the beauty of the cloth, texture and details.’ [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] The client wanted to have over-sized/giant cut-outs of the campaign imagery centre-stage, as larger than life standalone props. The colour palette was mostly monochromatic, and it was Hello Flamingo’s job to drive the creative concept to include the camouflage print. So, the design team gave each of the cut-outs their own camouflage shadow – which you can find in the season’s collection. The camo shadows were set 50mm back from the photography to give a sense of depth and all the cut-outs were staggered in the window to enhance that feeling of depth. The cut-outs were huge, some were over 3m high to fill the...

T.M.Lewin – Chelsea in Bloom

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Hello Flamingo were very excited to be asked by the T.M.Lewin creative team to design and create their window display, in the King’s Road store for Chelsea in Bloom 2017. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] Working with the annual competition’s theme of Floral Safari, Hello Flamingo designed a tropical archway made up of gorgeous bright blooms. The archway perfectly framed the window with overflowing planters filled with tropical flowers and a giant lightbox with an image of an elephant. Planters made from upturned safari hats, were a playful and fun addition to the display. The theme continued inside the store with vases of the gorgeous flowers on counters. It was a real pleasure to work with this well-established British brand for such a prestigious event. We were very pleased with the outcome and the window won a bronze award. Missguided – Giant Banana

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Hello Flamingo were really happy to be asked to continue their collaboration with the creative team at Missguided and create bespoke props for the new store opening in Bluewater Shopping Centre, Kent[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] The props were a giant disco ball banana and mermaid’s tails fitted to mannequins. All designs and concepts were brought to us by Treasure Evans, Missguided’s Retail Visual Manager, winner of the Most Innovative Person Within VM award at the 2017 VM and Display Awards. The 4.2m long banana was hand carved from polystyrene and fibre-glassed by the Hello Flamingo in-house production team. The top of the banana was covered, by hand, in 38,000 individual mirror tiles! The inside of the peel was flocked in a realistic off-white flock and the outside of the banana was sprayed high gloss yellow. In store the banana sits on its own stage, and with a steel armature inside the banana it has strength and rigidity making...

T.M Lewin – Cool Comfort

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The team at Hello Flamingo we asked by the team at T.M. Lewin to design and manufacture a window for the launch of their new Cool Comfort shirt – which is made from an innovative moisture-wicking fabric, so the wearer can stay cool and composed – even when the heat is on. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] To create this bespoke display, the Hello Flamingo in-house team individually threaded 1000 artificial ice cubes onto nylon thread which in turn were attached to chrome champagne buckets. The buckets were suspended from the ceiling in the store window to give the impression that the mannequin was being showered in ice. Champagne buckets on the floor had the ‘ice’ spilling out onto the floor of the window, the theme continued in-store with buckets of the ice on countertops. The mannequin in the window was flanked by clear acrylic panels with water splashes, and the window had a vinyl...

Missguided – Babe Power

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Hello Flamingo were extremely excited to be approached by the creative team of bold fashion brand Missguided to collaborate with them, and fragrance distributor Per Scent, in creating a giant replica perfume bottle for the launch of their new fragrance ‘babe power‘ at Westfield, Stratford. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] The perfume bottles are the shape of drinks cans and are sold from a Missguided vending machine in the store. Our brief was to create a replica perfume can to perfectly match the original. The in-house production team at Hello Flamingo manufactured the bespoke prop in our workshop. Using internal wooden formers to create the can shape, which was wrapped to give the solid can outer. The can was wrapped in rose gold mirror vinyl. The ‘babe power’ logo was cut out of the can and illuminated to make the branding pop. CNC wood top and bottom parts completed the realistic look, which included a giant ring pull. The can was...
